Alpine

Biography

It's commonly known that Melbourne can sport it's fair share of cold weather. A lot of kids tend to spend time in-doors rather than face the elements of winter. One day when the arctic winds were blowing up from the South ferociously, 6 friends emptied the change in their pockets and hired a warehouse in downtown Melbourne to shack up and get creative in. The result was 'SWISS' a bright, colourful fusion of indie synth pop with hypnotic rhythms, luscious harmonies and beats that actually wanted to make you dance. They have been likened to Phoenix, Lykke Li, The XX even a bit of New Order.

They quickly caught the attention of music lovers across the country and before they even had time to prepare their 1st live show, Triple J begun playing their demos on air and awarded them the influential 'JJJ Un-Earthed Feature Artist Of The Week' blue ribbon.

Around the same time, Adelaide band 'The Swiss' hit the scene. Like any group of nice, polite, humble kids would do, Swiss decided a name change would probably be the best thing for all. Keeping it in line with their ideals and intentions, they decided upon the new name - ALPINE. An excellent choice we think.

Earlier this year Alpine signed a publishing deal with Ivy League Music (home to Cloud Control, Sparkadia, Josh Pyke, The Vines, etc…) and have recently picked up management with Winterman & Goldstein (Empire Of The Sun, Sleepy Jackson, Paul Dempsey, Mess Hall, Catcall….). They are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut EP, which should be out later this year.
