Biography

Multi talented and award winning artist Darrell Brown now adds author to his long list of accomplishments. Based on the LeAnn Rimes’ song of the same name which Brown and Rimes co-wrote, What I Cannot Change is a collaborative tome with the singer which will include stories from people who have experienced their own journeys of change. Published by Harper Studio, the book will be released in the spring.

Brown has also co-written 9 songs with Leann Rimes for her latest release titled “Family”; her most critically acclaimed CD to date - which includes her multi format hit single “Nothing Better To Do.” He is currently in the studio with Rimes writing for her next recording project.

With 70 million units sold worldwide as a songwriter/producer, Brown previously collaborated with the legendary Neil Young when he co-arranged and conducted the 100 voice choir for Young's latest album, "Living with War" which garnered much attention and great reviews. In addition he arranged and conducted the song “The Way” for Young’s CD “Chrome Dreams II.”

Formerly, he co-wrote and arranged Keith Urban's #1 multi format, Grammy winning hit "You'll Think of Me" for which Brown earned 3 ASCAP Awards for one of the top 5 most played songs on the radio. He also penned the hit "Raining on Sunday" for Urban as well as various other songs for Urban’s 4x Platinum record “Be Here,” Urban’s 2x Platinum “Love Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing” and Urban’s newest ’09 release “Defying Gravity.”

Other artists utilizing Brown’s talent on their upcoming releases are Bon Jovi, Josh Turner, Jack Ingram and Radney Foster. They stand alongside past releases from artists that include Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Berlin, Brooks and Dunn and Trace Adkins.

He's written with or for the legends of music including Willie Dixon, Dolly Parton, Michael McDonald, Wilson Phillips, Take 6, Kenny Loggins and Hall and Oates and many more.

Brown spearheaded the passion project "Soul Mission," co-writing and co-producing for the super group which included Steve Cropper, Mavis Staples and Booker T. Jones.

His talents don't stop there, however. Brown is also responsible for the creation and production of specific music that has been written and designed for Electronic Arts’ internationally renowned hit video games that include such franchises as “The Sims,” “Boogie,” “Lord of the Rings – Conquest,” “American Idol” and “Playground”.

Brown has also written or produced music that has appeared in such films as “Cruel Intentions” as well as television series including "Vegas," "Providence" and "One Tree Hill."

Brown regularly contributes to the NewYorkTimes.com music column Measure for Measure and splits his time between homes in Nashville and Los Angeles.
