Klaus Derendorf

Biography

Cooltura Music? is the brainchild of Producer/Songwriter Klaus Derendorf. For this West German native who calls Los Angeles home, his hard work and dedication to music is paying off.

Klaus has scored numerous Multi-Million selling Chart-topping successes in recent years. Taking advantage of his diverse background, having been raised on 3 continents, Klaus's unique and diverse musical styles have allowed him to build an A-List discography and world-wide recognition.

At the young age of 22, Klaus started working with producer Rick Parashar (Nickelback, Pearl Jam) in Seattle, Washington, recording rock bands in the early 90's.

He spent most of the 90's as a guitarist in Los Angeles, recording as well as touring with many local and International artists, before focusing exclusively on producing and songwriting for various projects.

After participating in the beginning of the TV-Idol era with the Popstars USA project, which launched the Top 10 Gold-selling group Eden's Crush, Klaus went on to produce legendary
artist Carlos Santana's album 'Shaman', the follow-up to the 9 Grammy winning 'Supernatural'.

Released in 2002, 'Shaman' debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard charts in its first week and went on to sell a stunning 6 Million copies around the world while Klaus's track 'Hoy es Adios' became a Top 20 Hit single on the Latin Billboard charts.

Klaus followed up with the phenomenal success of Josh Groban, for which he wrote and co-produced a track with 14 time Grammy winner David Foster.

Groban's album 'Closer', released in November 2003 sold a whopping 2 Million copies within 8 weeks of its release and went Number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart in January 2004. To date, the record has crossed the counters over 7 Million times world-wide.

Klaus's approach to records and songs is very much based on a global perspective.

While he has scored two Number 1 albums in the US, his work is also highly successful in other territories, such as Argentina, where 2-time Grammy nominee Alejandro Lerner's album featuring Klaus's title track 'Buen Viaje' went Platinum and topped the charts.

'Buen Viaje' was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004!

2005/06 brought several gold and platinum successes and hit singles from Australia to across Europe, from rock bands to numerous Idol winners.

Collaborating with some of the world's top songwriters, such as Andreas Carlsson, Tom Nichols, among others, Klaus is currently working on material for various international top artists, and he is always looking for new talent to develop and produce.

A voting member of both the US and Latin division of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS and LARAS), Klaus's goal is to continue to keep growing the company into a top independent music production and publishing company for global markets. So far so good ....
