Travis Collins

Biography

2007 Golden Guitar Finalist for Male Artist of the Year & Instrumental of the Year

Winner Victorian & National Country Music Awards - 2007 Trailblazers Heritage Award

With his music on the airwaves and near the top of the charts on three continents, Travis Collins is rapidly becoming an international sensation.

Announcing Travis's Golden Spur Award win in March 2006, legendary crooner and music industry figure Frank Ifield said of this talented young singer: 'When Travis hits the stage, the whole world erupts'. It seems that Frank's words are prophetic, because the world is fast discovering Travis, and can't get enough of his talents.

Since winning the prestigious Golden Spur Award, Travis has seen his songs top the charts in , go Top 5 in and , and debut in the top 10 of the European HotDisk charts, where he stayed for many weeks. In the , he reached number 8 spot on the country charts with the cool and sexy 'Slow Train Coming'. Another of his originals, 'She Took the Ring' was released in January 2007 and immediately entered the charts.

Back home in Australia, Travis has now had two number 1 hits on the Country Music Channel charts, with his single 'I Was Wrong' and the title track of his debut album, Start the Car both heading straight to the top - largely due to the huge number of requests from viewers. His latest single, another original, 'Full Tank' was another Top 5 hit on The Country Tracks Charts.

It's a dream come true for 22-year-old Travis, whose career got its first kick-start when he won the 2004 Toyota Star Maker Quest. Since then, the response to his debut album, Start the Car, has been overwhelming, with no less than five hit singles released from the album.

With an edginess and on-stage charisma reminiscent of Keith Urban, there's no doubt that Travis is a fast track straight to the top.

His cool, raw, contemporary style of music is being enthusiastically embraced by a new generation of country fans, yet it remains firmly rooted in the country tradition.

Since winning Star Maker, Travis has been burning rubber in his quest for country stardom, including touring with Female Vocalist Golden Guitar winner Melinda Schneider and performing at major festivals.

He appeared with fellow Star Maker winner Samantha McClymont on the 2006 Country Music Awards of Australia gala concert singing a duet they recorded and was again asked to perform at the 2007 Awards with his song 'Full Tank' and his first instrumental recording, 'Redliner', both nominations in 2007. In February 2007, Travis was awarded the Trailblazers Heritage Award at the Victorian & National Country Music Awards for 'I Am Australian'

2006 also saw Travis visit the , where he performed at three bluegrass festivals in Missouri , as well as at venues in Nashville and Austin . The Contemporary Country Music Coalition have sponsored Travis to perform in Nashville in June 2007 where he will also take the opportunity to co-write with successful songwriters. He will tour the in July & August 2007, and his highly anticipated second album is currently underway and will be launched on his return.
