Head Like A Hole

Biography

Glory, Glory Hallelujah

It’s like a knife; it cuts right through ya…

The Mavericks of NZ rock are releasing their second new single; Glory, Glory.
... The recently released Swagger of Thieves is a savage beast that roars from start to finish, whereas Glory, Glory is a slow burner, gradually building the tension as it rises like a battle into an anthem finale. Sinewy guitars interweave and glisten, the drums and bass keep a steady pumping groove, and all the while Booga Beazley tears his heart out over the top with lyrics such as “I wipe the walls with you / you break my heart in two / Glory, Glory for you...”

Glory, Glory started its life in the River City of Wanganui where Nigel Regan disappeared to after the band imploded in 1999 in classic rock cliché fashion. Regan started writing songs again just for the sheer pleasure of doing so. He’d send them to Booga, simply because – all that mattered – was his old mate heard them. The track, initially titled ‘In this House’, had an effect on Booga, akin to a great beast awakening from a long sleep, lyrical content started to flow.

In 2010 Glory, Glory finally came to fruition in a sweaty Auckland practice room with the original Head Like a Hole members from 1999 – with the addition of Andrew Ashton’s Viking-like guitar solos – this single was always going to be a standout.

The much anticipated, full-length album release date is set for 1st July, featuring Glory, Glory and Swagger of Thieves amongst other monster tracks. Head Like a Hole will follow this up with a nationwide tour starting in August 2011.
