JAYSON NORRIS is a singer/songwriter originally from Kaitaia, a small town situated in the far north of New Zealand’s North Island. In 2004, Jayson relocated to London where he has since remained.

Since his move to the UK, Jayson Norris has released one full-length album "A Basket Full" in 2006, independently in London alone before signing to Loop Recordings in Australia and New Zealand. Jayson second album “Freedom 28” was released on January 17th 2011 also through Loop.

Jayson returned to NZ in March 2008 to headline the "Acoustic Lounge Tour" which featured artists such as Jason Kerrison (Opshop), Jonny Love and Luke Thompson. The tour was a huge success with all shows selling out. Jayson won over a whole new fan base with his phenomenal live show.

In early 2009 armed with a bag of new songs, Jayson enlisted then UK-based NZ producer Steve Roberts who has produced and engineered acts including Soul II Soul, Dave Dobbyn, Che Fu and Brooke Fraser and Dane Rumble to start on his second album "Freedom 28".

"Freedom 28" was completed at Neil Finn’s Roundhead Studios in Auckland with pre-production occurring in 2009 at York St Studios in Auckland (with Steve Roberts) and Abbey Road in London (with Kathy Bryan).

The first single and video Freedom to Live stands as a mark of respect and a means for remembering our forefathers who fought in the wars for our freedom. It features Carla Werner on backing vocals. The song is also a personal homage from Jayson Norris to his late grandfather Charlie Norris who was in the 7th Reinforcement, A company of the 28th Maori Battalion. Freedom to Live was used as the official song for the Crete remembrance celebration for ANZAC day, which saw Jayson being flown back to NZ to perform on the Maori TV ANZAC special along with performances across radio. Jayson also performed at the NZ Crete celebration ceremony.

The second single Love Someone has made big waves with TV and radio in New Zealand and features his mate, Jason Kerrison, (OPSHOP) on backing antics. While Jayson’s inspiration for Love Someone is undeniably heartfelt, the song’s tone is irreverent and fun, and the song’s haphazard video clip playfully captures it.

The third single Window released in December 2010 is a catchy and upbeat song that is almost an anthem for expat Kiwis living in London. It was made evident on Jayson's recent NZ/ Asia tour that the song is destined to be a hit judging by how the crowds responded with extreme positivity every time it was played.

Jayson Norris has successfully carved a niche for himself in the UK music scene and by combining his rich earthy vocals with a blend of soul, roots and rock, and his phenomenal live show.

Jayson has shared the stage and performed for artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Paul McCartney, Mark Knopfler, Pete Murray, Fly My Pretties, Dave Dobbyn, Blue King Brown, Breaks Co-Op, The Black Seeds, Dragon, The Jordan Luck Band, Six60 and Jason Kerrison (OPSHOP) along with invitations to perform at some of London, New Zealand and Asia’s biggest music festivals including "Love Box", "Secret Garden", "Toast", “Homegrown” and Beer Fest Asia to name just a few.

Following on from the success of the first singles released from "Freedom 28" Jayson was invited to join the cast of the all star NZ super group “Fly My Pretties” which toured NZ in Jan 2011. Not only did Jayson join the cast of Fly My Pretties he also opened each show with his own set which wowed audiences across the country Jayson also performed at the 2011 "Homegrown Festival" (NZ’s biggest festival) - a massive feat, as singer/songwriters aren't usually the Festival's fair, Jayson was the first artist ever to perform on 2 stages at the Homegrown festival, a true testament to Jayson's amazing ability to perform live.
