Well yes, Avey Tare is from Animal Collective. But while there are definitely links to his day job, Avey is marching to the beat of his own mushy, mashed, messed up electro drum machine. Everything is processed, disjointed, and artificial sounding, but also just plain bizarre and cheeky enough to feel human, but only if human was a broken down synthesizer played by a six year old child drunk on sugar and cough medicine.

There’s something simultaneously stupid and dementedly genius about the way he puts his tunes together. There are no precedents. He is making music the way a solo album from an Animal Collective should sound.
