Christmas came early yesterday as the much talented CHET FAKER joined the Mushroom Music roster. We were well impressed with his clever reinvention of Blackstreet’s No Diggity before being sent into complete tail spins with his original material. Coming from a techno/house background with a history of also playing acoustic shows at open mic nights, Chet produces phenomenal minimal RNB beds and lets his soothing Bill Withers-like vocal glide over the top. He also makes engagingly bent instrumental tracks that are out to lunch! Recently realised as a live ensemble, Chet Faker has played four shows to date including a fearless live-to-air performance on 3RRR FM. A must see live, he’ll soon open for Washed Out and Toro Y Moi before prepping the release of his debut EP Thinking In Textures.
