29 Nov 2011 : 2011 ARIA Award Winners & Kylie Minogue Inducted Into ARIA Hall Of Fame
In all of its star studded red carpet glory, the 2011 ARIA Awards were presented at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday 27th November in front of capacity audience filled with industry personnel and music fans alike.
It was an extra special occasion for the 43 year old Pop Princess Kylie Minogue who along side The Wiggles, was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Presented by PRIME MINISTER JULIA GILLARD, Minogue paid tribute to the ongoing support of her fans and particularly her family throughout her career spanning more then 24 years.
Other notable moments from the evening included Kasey Chambers who proved that she is still the Queen of Country Music after taking out her ninth BEST COUNTRY ALBUM Award pipping her husband Shane Nicholson with her latest solo album Little Bird.
The late great Billy Thorpe was posthumously awarded an ARIA for his final masterpiece, Tangier with his wife Lynn and two daughters on hand to accept the award on his behalf.
After taking out last year’s award for BEST ROCK ALBUM, BIRDS OF TOKYO took out the public voted award for MOST POPULAR AUSTRALIAN ARTIST.
