Mushroom Music celebrate the signing of Kid Confucius, Sydney's dynamic 9-piece soul/hip hop/gospel/funk outfit. Meanwhile, the band prepare for the release of their eagerly anticipated sophomore album featuring their new genre defying single 'Closer'. The single is classic Detroit era Motown mixed with angelic falsetto vocals, African rhythmed heavy roomy kick drums reminiscent of a Timbaland production, slightly 80s sounding guitars and even some rock flutes and clarinets creating a nostalgic feel to this dedication to life in the city. The recording, produced by Sydney's producer de jour Buchman (AKA Tony Buchen), was given the final treatment it deserves, mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Russell Elevado (The Roots, D'Angelo, Talib Kwali) at Jimi Hendrix's own Electric Lady Studios in NYC. Expect a sound that conjures a Marvin Gaye soul symphony performed by the Beatles and conducted by Kanye West with a live show to match. Just recently the band walked away with the Dance Music Award for Best Urban Act.
