02 Nov 2006 : NEIGHBOURS' MUSIC
Neighbours is one of the longest running television series produced in Australia and continues to have a high profile in England and throughout Europe.
Mushroom Music Publishing is the largest independent music publisher in Australia and New Zealand and has a substantial catalogue of songs covering the history of Australian music from the late Sixties to current chart toppers Eskimo Joe.
When Neighbours commenced production back in 1985, Mushroom Music Publishing and Mushroom Records provided most of the music to the show. This was a very successful relationship for many years. For a period of time the producers looked at other types of music supply.
Recently the producers of Neighbours reviewed the use of music in the show and decided to open negotiations with Mushroom Music Publishing and Liberation Records. It was obvious that the winning formula that served both parties so well for many years should be resurrected. As they said in The Blues Brothers, it was a case of getting the old band back together.
From March 2007, there will be a new sound to the show as they access the broad range of quality Australian music which Mushroom publishes. Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gudinski has welcomed the move. "This is a natural association between two Australian companies that have made their mark in their respective fields in the international market. I am excited to renew this partnership which will give Neighbours great music and provides our artists with a worldwide audience. Everyone's a winner."
