Beautiful Songs

Beautiful Songs started life as part of the very successful independent UKPublishing company Reverb Music,

Formed by A&R veteran Gordon Charlton, it was originally called Reverb 3 Music.

Gordon used the company to pick up publishing on songs that were written by a few of his long-time music industry contacts.

As a long time fan of early 90s remix crew DNA (most famous for their mix of Susanne Vega's "Tom's Diner"which they never received a penny in royalties for), Gordon ended up publishing two songs by Nick Batt, one half of DNA, who had worked with Goldfrapp programming with Will Gosling.

Nick had programmed most of the band's two most recent albums "Black Cherry"and "Supernature"and was given a share of writing credit on a couple of songs. "Strict Machine"(from Black Cherry), which went on to win an Ivor Novello Award in 2004) and,"Ride A White Horse"(from "Supernature") which were both landmark singles.

Gordon also managed to pick up the publishing of a Sheffield-based writer by the name of Simon Stafford.

Simon, an original member of seminal Sheffield l band the Long Pigs, was a member of Joe Strummer's band The Mescaleros, and was involved in writing some of the songs that made up Joe's last album.

Simon, as a Sheffield scene maker has played with Reverend and The Makers (contributing to a few songs with the band) and is currently touring with Pulp frontman, Jarvis Cocker.

The next 12 months will see Beautiful Songs, making their first long-term signings and continuing to pick up quality, under-exploited copyrights.
